Riverside Art Students Busy Again
By Dorothy Brueck
February 19, 2008
It is that time of year again. Riverside art students are busy getting work done for the regional Michigan Art Education Association exhibit. It is surprising how motivated the kids are to get one of their works into a show. Please mark your calendars for the opening reception on March 2, 2008 at the Portage Public Library from 2-4 pm. This is not the most ideal setting for an exhibit but we rotate the exhibit between three locations. My co-liaison for the region lives in Portage and loves it at the library. If you are unable to attend the reception and bored some time, stop on by the library during regular hour.
The following students have been chosen to compete:
3rd grade, Emily Mumaw for her Marker Picasso Portrait
4th grade, Dylan King for her Oil Pastel Flower, study of VanGogh
4th grade, Mason Dull for his Printmaking Season Trees
4th grade, Bailey Potter for her Chalk Pastel landscape
5th grade, Amber Chupp for her Chalk Pastel, Personality Portrait
Come and check these out. You will be amazed by the results of all the talent at CPS. As always we hope to do as well as we have over the last 8 years. If accepted into the regional show they can move to the state level of competition in Lansing at the end of March.
Our shows are limited this year as we lost the support of Wendy's Restaurant Exhibit (due to cost of show) and Barnes and Nobles Bookstore (Barnes and Nobles filled the site with books-figure that)
If you have any questions please try and catch me!
