Superintendent Message

Welcome Back!  We’re excited about the improvements we’ve made and look forward to seeing the students return!

One change that we’re very excited about is intended to improve the safety for students.  Eastside Elementary is changing the entryway from the front of the building to the rear, off Orchard Street.  Due the congestion caused in front of the school that included traffic backing up on US 1-31 the entryway for Eastside we’ve added pavement from the rear of the building that connects to Orchard Street.

If approaching Eastside from the south on US 1-31, take a right on Meadow Lane and then a left on Orchard Street.  From the East take a left off Florence Street to Orchard Land and from the North take a left off of White Pigeon Road, to Orchard Street.

The Spring 2010 MEAP county test scores indicate that Constantine 11th graders performed well on the State MME testing.  Testing results for the county are;

Congratulations to students and staff on a job well done!  Please know that the improvement in scores is partially due to the fact that our Alternative Education scores used to be part of our high school score. They are now separate.  Scores district-wide improved last year.

Another improvement the District will be making this year is the addition of after school programs for students in grades K-12.  Students will be able to receive extended time for their day to work on both reading and math skills.

A new software program (DORA/DOMA) for students grades K-8 will allow the district to monitor the progress of all students in reading and math throughout their educational career.  Not only does the testing provide immediate feedback for students and staff regarding educational levels, it also provides lessons geared for students at their level for improvement.  The lessons are done on-line and computer laptop carts have been purchased for each building to ensure that students have enough access to the programming.

Due to a fire this summer the athletic complex may look a bit different this year.  New bleachers have been installed on the visitor side of the complex, the track itself was partially patched and given new paint and the concrete area near the restrooms has been redone.  Additional steps on the home side have been added on each end of the home side bleachers for better access up and down the hill.  With the exception of the additional steps all of the work was completed by our insurance company.

We look forward to another tremendous year and invite all parents to be a part of your student’s education.  We would appreciate any input that you have regarding the school and the job that we’re doing.
